Calvert Buddy Day- A Time for Lower School and Middle School Students to Show School Spirit Together!

Lower School and Middle School Together for Buddy Day!

Hot but Happy!

Shelly the Turtle got us Organized

Today was Calvert Buddy Day and it was so great to see the different age groups mix and mingle! Older students looked out for and played with the younger ones. The younger ones looked up to the Middle Schoolers and pictured themselves in their shoes in a few years! Students had relays, parachute games, and played water balloon toss. Cross-age partners had lots of laughs together as they celebrated their school!

Apology Dos and Don'ts

Do:
Be Sincere; if it is a verbal apology be aware of your tone of voice and your body language
Maintain eye contact when you apologize
Use use an "I-Message" Example: "I am sorry for being mean to you. I will try to be a better friend and not do that again."
Let the person you've hurt know that you won't repeat what you have done
Be a good listener; allow the person you have hurt to share his/her feelings. Attempt to understand the situation from their point of view.
Don't:
Think it's too late to apologize.
Expect others to forgive you right away if they are still hurt, mad, or sad
Make excuses for your behavior- take responsibility
Be afraid to let the other person know how badly you feel about what you have done. Many times we are devasted by what we have done to another
Just say "I'm sorry;" be specific about what you have done wrong
Let others apologize for you
